Saturday, May 5th - Ron Update
Thanks for all your prayers for Ron and Janine. They made it safely to Houston and are staying with close friends. They have seen a couple of doctors this week and have been encouraged by the visits. Many have asked if Ron is feeling okay. He is healthy and exercising regularly. These follow up appointments are to help address the neurological effects that have occurred due to either an infection or inflammation during his medical crisis. The path to healing will take time and space for his brain to heal and his body to rest. We continue to appreciate your prayers and encouraging words for them.
Please feel free to forward this message to those praying for Ron and Janine.
Friday, April 27th - Ron Update
Dear Hope in the City and Friends,
Thanks for your prayers for Ron and Janine. Ron is out of the hospital in Singapore. They believe that he had an infection or inflammation that affected his brain but is no longer present, though he's experiencing its effects. They are recommending Ron return to the States for further medical care and recovery with a medical team. The nearest place for the best care for Ron is in Houston. They have dear friends in Houston who are planning on receiving them into their home. The husband is a doctor in Houston and is assembling a medical team for Ron at Houston Medical Center. They will be returning to Houston early next week. We are working out the travel logistics now. Please be asking for favor in flight schedules and ticket purchasing and for grace in travel.
The Hope for the Nations Pastoral Overseers Team will determine the appropriate steps as we work with Ron and Janine to create a plan to serve them well. We don't want to overwhelm them with visits, etc. as they need rest and space to follow the medical counsel of the doctors. It's too early to determine length of stays, etc. Ron is responding well currently but the Singaporean doctor suggested he be transferred to a place where he can receive both quality care and support from their community, making Indonesia not an option at this point.
Thanks for your prayers and support! I just spoke with Janine, and she mentioned that they are feeling your prayers and seeing the fruit of them as well. Please keep praying. Again, as a reminder, if you send e-mails, please keep them brief with verses and words, pictures and impressions from the Lord. Due to the volume of e-mails, they won't have time to reply to any questions; however, please know they greatly appreciate the prayers and encouraging words. They use the Scriptures regularly during their prayer times.
Saturday, April 21st - Ron Update
Thanks
everyone for your prayers for Ron. He is finishing up his last rounds
of test in the hospital in Singapore and will most likely be dismissed
Monday for another couple of weeks of follow up appointments. One thing
we've learned so far is that there is a rare infection attacking his
body. They're trying to get to the bottom of it, but we're fully aware that God knows what's going on.
So, would you join us right now in prayer that:
1. Ron's body to be fully healed and the infection cleared up.
2. Supernatural wisdom for the team of doctors to discern the different test results.
3. Strength for Ron and Janine as they are very weary from the past few weeks.
4. Continued care and support for them. Pray for those caring for
them in this crisis. Mike O. has been with them, and Misi and Jonathan
have just arrived to spend the next week with them.
If you want
to send an encouragement, feel free to do so. Please know that with
the volume of e-mails, Janine can't respond to any questions, etc.
However, she is blessed by words, Scripture and prayers sent her way.
Thanks for joining us as we stand for the Parrishes!
Thursday, April 19th - Ron Update
Please pray for Ron. He has had some complications in recovery
and has needed to re-enter the hospital for further testing. Over the next few
days, they will be doing some extensive testing to diagnose what's going on. He
is already very weak and the tests will be even more exhausting for him. He
needs to be able to sleep at nights and have strength through the days. Please
pray for the following things:
1. Rest right now (and ongoing). Ron is
trying to get to sleep right now.
2. Medical tests--that he'd be able to
have strength to do all of the tests and that they would reveal any hidden issue
that the doctors haven't caught yet. (He has an MRI tomorrow at 6 a.m.
Singapore time--5 p.m. CST; pray specifically for grace to endure this long
test).
3. Ask for wisdom and clarity for the doctors. We praise God for an
incredible doctor connection that has been made for us. Pray that this doctor,
who is a believer, will have supernatural wisdom as she leads the care for
Ron.
4. Covering for Janine as she cares for Ron--she, too, is very
tired.
We are grateful for all your prayers to date. Ron truly
experienced a miracle in the rise of his platelet count. We're asking for God
to work the healing completely through his body. Thanks for standing with us in
prayer!

Wednesday, April 11th - Ron Update
Ron is discharged from hospital! The platelet count soared again today, to 167,000, in the normal range. Both his lungs look good.
They are very grateful for your prayers - and especially for the goodness & power of God in response to those prayers! Because
they have to return to do several follow up blood tests they have
decided to stay in Singapore for the time being to wait for their visa
to come. They will pick it up there in Singapore then return to
Indonesia. There was an 8.6 earthquake reported this morning off the
coast of Indonesia, which sparked tsunami warnings in that country, so
please pray for courage and protection for all in that nation.
Tuesday, April 10th - Ron Update
GOOD NEWS!
Ron's platelet count shot up to 111,000! As usual, God goes beyond our
hopes! They could possibly be released today, although there is still a
concern with the right side of Ron's lung.
Ron's comment:
"I just read Psalm 30 and it struck me more powerfully & deeply than ever.... 'O
Lord, my God, I cried to You for help and you restored my health. You
brought me up from the grave, O Lord, You kept me from falling into the
pit of death...His favor lasts a lifetime. I am overwhelmed at how
quickly He has 'lifted me out...I know it was your prayers and I am so,
so grateful."
The decision they face now is where to go to
recuperate further...stay in Singapore (where they have to return to for
their visa in a week or so) or return to Indo for the time being (where
life is MUCH less expensive). They ask for prayer for wisdom for all
the decisions of the day.
Thank you for vigilance in walking
them through this time. God is SO incredibly faithful. Their hearts are
full of anticipation of what He has ahead.
